More Pics

I have posted some (okay most) of the pics from my camera to my MySpace pic AMS album. Amy's camera is far superior to my camera, so the money shots will come from her album. More posts detailing the trip to come, I'm still kinda tired and enjoying my time at home with Dane and my cats.

Home and Safe

Well, I'm home and safe and utterly exhausted. I didn't get any sleep on the plane and it's 10:00 am for me - I've been up for 25 hours. I'm tired and going to bed. I'm not going to school tomorrow. I might not even finish my paper. I don't plan on posting to the school board. I just don't have the energy.

As far as I know, Amy made it back safely. She messaged me from her layover in Memphis saying all was well so I'll assume the last leg of her trip went over seamlessly.

I have so much to post about and pictures to share now that I'm back and can post them to the blog. For now, this will have to do:

Zee Botel

I love it! Except our shower curtain is wholly inadequate and the whole bathroom gets soaked when someone showers. Hmmm. But we get free porn in the room, so I guess that makes up for it.

This end of town is so much fun - way more down to earth, less "Trendy Wendy". All very narrow streets between the canals, with little shops, coffee shops, pool bars, plus the usual souvenier shops, etc. I could spend hours just walking the streets (mmmm not like that people, I know what you are thinking) and exploring. Plus there are hookers in the windows, which makes the walking and watching all the more interesting.

The Red Light District is crazy!! There's something for everyone - everything from very pretty girls to old saggy tits to S&M. Tonights plans - have a few drinks, maybe a game of pool, walk the Red Light, and take in a live sex show. Woo hoo!!

I also have 3 joints that I need to figure out how to get rid of. Do you think you can pay prostitutes in marijuana? *ponders*

That is all.

Our Bad

It's been kinda hectic but not really the past couple days. We've been busy taking in the sites and stuff. Sorry for the delayed post.

So Monday night we ended up having a chill night. We went to dinner separately (I got some fabulous veggie curry at a Bollywood Indian restaurant) due to different napping schedules but went out together for a nice beer. Then we hit the coffee shop and I ordered a fat blunt and coffee and got a pic of me doing so. I got mine with tobacco in it so it wasn't really that much weed. I just wanted enough to say I did it. So we smoked a couple drags of the hemp cigarette and next thing we know we are high as kites! The weed here is not like the ditch weed back in the States. It was late and we got kicked out of the coffee shop so we walked over to the square (it was raining pretty bad) and sat under a big umbrella. Amy read her book (A Scanner Darkly) and I sat and listened to Bob Marley on the ol iPod. After a while I was bored and tired so I went home but couldn't sleep. Instead I stayed up all night just lost in my thoughts. Amy came home late and read some more and then we crashed out.

Monday and Tuesday my sleeping schedule was so messed up, I was actually up at 6:30 each morning. So I would get up and grab my smut magazines and read downstairs in the garden room with a coffee wrapped up in a blanket. Pretty cool, even though I don't get up that early at home.

So yesterday we walked around, it was raining pretty badly. Oh, and we had to switch hotels, which it was NOT fun lugging all my bags across town. We settled into the hotel (a big cruise boat in the canal/river. Amy immediately fell in love with this side of town and the hotel. We went out for a long walk and ended up going to the Anne Frank Musuem. I will have to post separately about that. (I only have 9 minutes left and I'm trying to get some chat time in with Mr. Man). After the AFM we walked around some more but I was exhausted so I went back to the hotel for a nap while Amy walked around aimlessly. By 10 we were out the door for the evening. On the way to dinner some dude tried to tell me a story and wouldn't leave us alone and then this nice guy named Matthew (I think he was Australian, could have been English though) noticed that this shady dude wouldn't leave us alone so he pretended he was with us and got us out of the situation. That was weird. Our only brush with seediness so far though. We got some Italian food (yummo) then walked around the Red Light District. No photos of me in a window yet, but we'll see if I can do that. I really don't think I can. :-( There was all sorts of craziness and we saw all sorts of prostitutes. Pretty ones, ugly ones, black, white, asian, fat, skinny, tall, short, down and out, superstars - you name it. It was quite the site to behold. Then we tried to find a pool hall that we had seen earlier but could NOT find it. I was getting anxious about the bars closing (I decided I needed to get drunk in order to sleep well otherwise I'd be up all night like I was before) so I had to load up on the booze. Finally all the bars were closed and it was after one and starting to get shady in the RLD. We were trying to find some place open but with no luck. We stopped at a falafel place (apparently this is were all the prostitutes eat after their shift) to use the bathroom and had to get some food. Just as we were leaving we asked about a bar that serves past 1. Next thing I know we are wisked away to some side street bar called San Francisco that had to have special door service. After a couple more cocktails the night livened up and Amy and I had a rip roaring good time never even leaving our bar seats! We were left relatively unbothered except for the occasional drunk guy saying something to us. Ugh. We closed the bar at 4 am and stumbled home with not a care in the world. It was starting to get light out already (16 hours of light here). We made a couple of drunk phone calls to the men in our lives (it was 10 PM the night before in Florida and 7PM in Washington) then promptly passed out.

This morning we slept and watched tv till about 1 in the afternoon then got ready and ate the BEST ever sandwiches on the sidewalk in the sun. I got grilled brie with tomatoes and walnuts. Awesome!! Then I had the best iced tea ever, I don't know what they do to it here, but is was amazing. I didn't need any sweetener. And they put oranges and lemons in it. After that we went to the sex museum. You would not believe what we saw there. I'll keep it fairly PG as we have a variety of readers of this blog and not everyone wants to hear about the transvestite picture with a edit in their mouth and a blank in their explicit. :-) If you want to know more, I'd be happy to email you. Then we went shopping (I got a ton of stuff) and now here we are blogging. Amy is making a blog too, though I don't know what she's saying. Probably the same sh*t I am.

Tomorrow we are taking a train to Arnhem to see the windmills and get a sampling of Dutch culture. We are both REALLY excited about this. They have an outdoor art musuem with paintings (including Van Gogh) in the forest. Too cool. Tomorrow night we will probably find a nice restaurant and dress to the nines and enjoy our last night on the town. It will be Amy's official b-day party since we were so lame on her actual birffday.

Tonight - who knows. We are on online dates with our men right now. I'm down to my last tank top and pants. No money left so I'm starting to hit the AMEX card (at a 2% fee each transaction - ouch!). OH! That's right, Amy and I are going to a live sex show tonight and more hanging out in the RLD. Since we have no moeny we will eat fast food. Maybe I'll have enough for a few beers. I'm going to turn into a Heineken beer. In AMS when you order beer, that's what you get. There's not a choice of beer. Unless you go to an Irish pub, then you can get Guniess. Or however that is spelled. I'm losing braincells by the day. I'll be lucky if I can still remember my multiplication tables by the time I leave. :-P

I don't know if I can post more pics or not. And since we will be out of town tomorrow I'm not sure I can post again before we leave. We''ll try though. Friday we will go straight to the airport from the hotel, maybe I can do it there.

I miss everyone and have so many more stories to share - this place is absolutely amazing. More than words could ever describe. See you soon!

Pictures

We've had a heck of a time uploading pics to the blog. However, I've just managed to upload pics to my MySpace.

Follow this link to my MySpace page and select "Pics" then go to the "Amsterdam" photo album. We will post more pics later. We want to get to smokin for now. :-)

Not much to report, we've kinda taken it easy the past two days. Yesterday we walked all around the south end of town. We tried going to the Van Gogh museum but the line was for days so we scrapped that idea, searched the town for Thai, found it, ate, then went over to the Heineken Brewery which was AWESOME!! We got to learn all about beer and the Heineken family, we got to take a ride to see what it was like to be a beer bottle. Then we got to drink a beer (part of the admission), then we got to tool around some more, ride on a horse coach (virtually of course) then we got to watch all the Heineken adds since 1955. Then we got to drink two more beers, spend money in the gift shop, and get our free gifts. It was after five by the time we got done so we hopped on a pedal bike for the water and went up and down the canals. We even did a doughnut in our pimped out ride. It was less than exhilarating.

Amy talked about today below. And now we are off to go smoke some specialness, drink some tea and coffee and just relax. Debouchery to commence tomorrow in the RLD.

The next few days will be dedicated to a museum and canal day, a bicycle to the windmills day, then a shopping and botanical gardens day. As for the nightlife, who knows. Definitely the RLD and some more drinking. Though I think I'm about to turn into a Heineken beer I've had so much.

Birfffffday

It's my birthday. I'm officially an old lady now.

25!!!!

We had grand plans for the day. Unfortunately, the big man in the sky apparently did not want the plans to commence as it spewed cold rain all day. We tried to make the most of it - went to the flower market, did some shopping, went to the medievel torture museum and watched how wenches got their nipples pinched off...

I don't know about Crystal, but after all the hard partying of the last two days, I was WORN out. So we had a birthday nap. And now we are off to have a birthday blunt and a cup o'tea.

Tomorrow we are off to the Amstel Botel http://amstelbotel.nl! We will be right around the corner from the Red Light District - yay whores!!!

Dude

There are a few things I forgot to mention about my fabu trip over. First off, I got lucky to have a row of four seats to myself so I totally got to stretch out. The food was good, though they ran out of vegetarian food by the time they got to me. Oh well. AND I got a FREE beer with my dinner. Awesome.

FYI: I'm running on like 3 brain cells. Last night was fun.

Anyway - so after we posted last night we went to the Square and walked around, saw a lot of cool shops including a place that sells mushroom growing kits.

Then we found a pizza place for Amy (I was still full from my fries earlier). After that we walked around trying to find a nice bar. Instead we found a Pirate bar!!! Dude - that place was so packed it wasn't even funny. We were just going to stay for two drinks but the bartenders started feeding us shots and before I knew it, I was playing a Dutch game called "Answer Before I Ask". Apparently the rules of this game are simple: I answer "yes" or "no" to the question "Are you going to do this". And if I say "yes" then I have to do whatever the bartender deems "this" is. In my case, "this" was eating a whip cream and alcohol covered banana. Not so bad, eh? So the timid Amy steps up and thinks "okay, I can do this" but for Amy, "this" was a whip cream and alcohol covered 18" dong. Seriously, I have pics (which apparently aren't uploading correctly, don't know what the issue is, the error msg is in Dutch). So after that the night was crazy. More shots, more drinks. I think we only paid for 2 of them. When the bar got too crowded we looked for another bar, ended up at the Surprise Bar, but that was even more jam packed than the other bar. So we sat outside and I chatted up anyone who cared to listen. At that point Amy knew it was time to go, so she suggested we get a move on. It was pouring rain out though so we got drenched on the way home. And I mean soaking wet. We looked like drown rats when we stumbled into the hotel at 3 am. Good times, good times.

We are on our way now to the Van Gogh museum, another museum, and the Heineken Brewery to get "pissed", which is apparently slang for getting drunk, not upset. But speaking of pissed off, it costs 50 cents to pee here! That's right, we had to pay each time we used the bathroom. Silly Europeans. WTF.

Okay, I'm going to try to post a pic one more time.

Damn - not working. We'll have to post pics later.
